you've all been fooled, the trim was done by a guy called albert johnson from albert's auto trim he had a trim shop next to a big car yard on parramatta rd back in the '60's he did a few and they modified the tag to match so in later years it would have everybody puzzled

Well.......I only have one decent picture of the seat trim. It is on film and I don't have a scanner at the moment.

However, it looked the same as your grey trim Jacko - as in same pattern in red on the inner panel and plain red on the outer. The door trims were as you would find in any other FB Special.

I have found the build plate in the garage and compared the codes with my current FB, they are different, which surprised me because I assumed the 'wacky trim' would have been an aftermarket job.

The FB I have now is Seagull Grey with Cathay Grey flash with the normal looking White with stars/plain red/speckly red seats. The trim code being 667 - 883.

The FB I scrapped was Morning Grey with Grecian White flash with 'wacky red trim' number 611 - 941. Although as I mentioned, the door trims are the same as the car I have now.

Any interpretation of these numbers from the Guru's?

And by the way, the tag I have has NOT been modified in any way.

Hi 61FBspecial,

611-941 Grey wacky trim

605-942 Red wacky trim

Your code is very simular, it suggests that yours was factory too!

Look forward to the pics when you can.

I was just reminded of another car with the Wacky Trim. Blue FB, white Flash with 161 red, sold to Kingaroy QLD.

The ex owner Paul, said he did some research & found out it was Vauxhall Trim? Paul's wacky trim was a pale Blue. I remember seeing the front seat & it was torn.

i just retrimed a camper seat with similar trim, (red with tan colour material insert). Looked fairly geniune to me.

I have also seen seats at swaps with similar trim so it looks like its gettin around.

Thanks for posting the pic Steve. From memory, the code translated to 'Handsel red and Mephisto red'. Where as the standard type special trim, like the car I have now is 'Chianti red and Mephisto red', I think?
