Any one know what pollution gear is on the 308 motor in a HZ eg.carbon canister egr valve
also the HJ holden 308 Turbo pattern
also what year did they start to run pollution gear on the 308 so whats the last full pre pollution motor

They started with the HX around mid 1976, which is when the ADR came into force regarding pollution gear.
Unless you're going to modify it, I'd stay away from the early pollution V8's. The 253 had barely more power than a pre pollution 202.
I think some late HJ's also had the carbon canister

Thanks for the info cal im looking at a 308 that came out of a hj just waiting on the cast date to see
if it runs any pollution stuff like canister

Well with ADR 27 and 27A are the ones that effect the 70's cars the most.
The most basic summary is that 27 is crankcase ventilation and PCV , so no open oil filler and a PCV valve to draw vapours back into the engine
Also a charcoal canister is required to take on carby fuel vapours ( often a small hose near float )
27A on 1/6/76 goes a lot further, all gas tanks are sealed ( note some makers sealed them with 27 in anticipation ), and there are several temp sender with vacum hoses, mainly carby are full of emmision hoses and dizzy wont get vac advance till top gear and at over a certain temperature
From late HQ onwards they had the canister (27), but from mid '76 (27A) was when they choked the motors to death.

not sure about that because you can get early HJs regoed with a chev but later HJs no so i'de say it starts getting tuff somewhere in HJ which I think is '74
