Interior Door Handle Movement

Post by OldMan's Lacky »

I am getting the door cards reupholstered and need to ensure clearance from extra padding under the vinyl.

When opening the interior door handle do they get pulled up or down and far do they go past the horizontal i.e. 45 degrees?

Appreciate any help possible.

Cheers.

Hi Danny

I just redid one of my door cards and used a general purpose headlining as the extra padding under the vinyl. It was about 2 maybe 3mil thick tops. I took some pics of it and they are posted on my Old Timer rebuild thread. Hope that helps.

Thanks Stewart.

Should probably have provided a bit more detail. The upholsterer that is going to do my doors and seat has mentioned that he might raise them but wants to make sure the the handles aren't restricted.

For example this is what he is proposing (a lot more conservative than this but you get the picture):
