Door seals. (that don't seal)
Door seals. (that don't seal)
Something tells me that the guy who put the seals in my ute has them all ass about. Inner as outers and vice-versa, and inside out also. Driving in the rain is not cool when the water is outside the car and inside it.
Can any ute drivers with door seal photos posted please direct me to them. (i say ute drivers because i was told they were slightly different to sedan/wagon, but i could be wrong)
Thanks again,
Ryan

Shame nobody replied. I have an EK wgn that I bought the whole rubber kit (from rare-spares for a small fortune) then had the only smash repair in my town fit them and ... yeah, you guessed it, they stil f#%^$#g leak! I paid him $770 to fit them too.
I need to get more glue, I think that he has also done inside out , then do them again if they come out. Mind you, he used crap glue and they are already falling out in places now any way.....4months later.....
good luck.

I just wonder how many FB/EK's these smash repairers have put rubbers in? Probably none , but they will take your money and stuff up the job with no consequences .
You probably would have done the job better yourself because you wouldn't have rushed it and read all the instructions.
Sorry you have been stuffed around .

Thanks for the replies guys. I should have done it myself but seeing as the ute was already at the shop i thought i'd just drop the seals off and be done with it.
Those photos are a huge help, thanks Rusty. The cross section is exactly what i needed. Can anyone recommend a good glue for the job?

Lock tite 404 (pretty sure its 404) is the stuff you get with the rubber kit, it sticks like shit to a blanket .

Loctite 406!!! Just did a search Trev and you corrected me last time.
A drop every couple of cm's on the rubber and you're done. Also when fitting stretch the rubber ever so slightly as they seem to fit better.

Re: Door seals. (that don't seal)
good info guys. I was using the 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive (black) from Rare Spares and it was great. I need to get some more and do the failing ones again myself. Not sure what the pale tan stuff was that smash repairer used but it may as well have been baby poo for it was crap anyway.
Thanks for the factory default settings photographs above too.
Interesting Devilrod said to stretch slightly as I was told the very opposite, as when the glue dries, it can tighten the rubber and pull away a bit....there you go eh?
Thanks guys.
