Better late than never ...... The nats through Blackys eyes

Post by Blacky »

I FINALLY got time to put up some pics

We left Perth early on Thursday morning via Qantas ..... 45 minutes late  - on our way to Adelaide where Thommo was picking us up from the airport. We got there - eventually - and were picked up in style in Thommos FB and were rapidly whisked around to Thommos joint to pick up the ute . BTW , this was the first time Thommo and I had met face to face - I sent him my ute a week previous without even knowing where he lived in Adelaide , he picked it up , washed it , threw a new set of plugs in it and parked it in his shed and we had never met !!!! How good is this forum and the people on it ???

We loaded up , fired up the mighty FB's and we were off - to meet the rest of the Adelaide mob who had been waiting very patiently in a carpark for the friggin' West Aussies to arrive....
Image
after a quick carby adjustment we were off
Image

Things were looking good for a great weekend -
Image

We were putting a few miles behind us -
Image

- but then the excreta hit the air movement device :(
Image

the ute was carrying on like a second hand lawnmower and I wasnt happy that I was pi$$ing off all my new croweating friends and holding them up. We stopped at a friend of Camerons and threw a timing light and a big hammer at it and got into Mildura about 3 hours later than expected - but still had plenty of time to get on the soup and a good feed at the RSL - $6.20 for a schooner and a bourbon and lemonade !!!!! I think the nats should be in Mildura next year 8) 8) 8) 8)

Friday morning and after a feed at the motel we were off !!! picked up some other blow-in at Mildura
Image

Camerons supercharged small block powered EK used nearly as much fuel as my ute used oil......so we fuelled up before leaving 8)
Image

.. and off we went. Got to Balranald without a drama - the ute was going like a bewdy and life was sweet :D
Image

.. but alas it didnt last all day :?

Image

yet another case of the staggers and she was just about buggered
Image

Don performed a bit of magic and she took off again like a dog shot in the arse :D
Image

... for about half an hour and the old tart fell over again
Image

a bit more lovin' and she got us to Narrandera :D :D :D :D ....... just :o

Got to registration on Saturday after Don once again gave me a hand to get the old hooker going again , and went out to the winery in Leeton , bought some wine :D , some port :D , and some spark plugs :?
got back to Narrandera and got on the soup.

Sunday morning dawned bright and clear -

Image

and we were off to the show and shine.

Sunday night is party time  the noisy table .....
Image

.. and the quiet sensible table :)
Image
Image

Dunno most of the people in the front of this pic but we jumped in anyway....
Image

The South Australians were a bit worried about the WA and NT boys
Image

... and we musta got a bit rambunctious because the boss came over and gave us a good talking to , he laid down the law and told us to pull our mug heads in
Image

... but we managed to talk him around to our way of thinking :D :D :D
Image

The UDL UFO's made another apearance -
Image

and the South Aussies looked worried again ....
Image

. or maybe they were just trying not to spew listening to the "singing"
Image

Gaz took home his fair share of the dust collectors on offer -
Image

Thommo and I got one as well - poor old Gaz was thirsty all night , his tongue was hangin' out AGAIN !!!?
Image

.. then it was off to Minis fire bucket for the wrap up - no photos of that so nobody gets in trouble

Monday morning and I was feelin a bit seedy - and we had to find our way to Melbourne somehow , time to stick the thumb out . Lucky for us Reidy managed to find us a seat in Darren and Cathys (ahem) EK wagon  (oh the indignity of having to travel in a late model car  ) -
Image

- and that was it , we had a blast - and once again thanks to Thommo , Cameron , Richard , Dave and the Kathys from SA for being so patient on the trip over , Don for your help trying to keep the old girl running for the weekend so we didnt miss out on anything , Reidy , Darren and Cathy for the lift to Melbourne at the end of it all. The only one of these people I had met personally before this weekend was Reidy - and that was 4 years ago at Albury. This forum is the best thing since canned piss :D :D :D :D :D :D

We got picked up at somewhere by my mate Kuna Jack and we went to me other mate Norms house for a cuppa and a look at his toys-

Toy #1 - salt car
Image

Toy #2 - Frod ute
Image

New toy , 34 coupe with a bit of a chop and a V12 Lincoln
Image
Image

Then back to Kunas joint for a rest

After a day or 2 recovery we went to castlemaine for a look at Rod Hadfields shed -
Very nice bodywork on this
Image

I asked him how the fark he got this thing registered and he said it was registered as a stock V8 T model  then 2 minutes later he was telling me how the Vic laws have really tightened up in the last couple of years since he registered this and the '55 Chev - I cant understand why

Too bad about the ute - must have been too cold for a WA car!

Poor ol' Quinny's a bit mixed up gettin his head in the S.A./ N.T. pic Blacky. What with his big move before the Nats i don't think he knows what state he's in. Should have told him he was in the State of Intoxication.
