When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

No radio expert here but there would have been the GMH radio option and a number of aftermarket period radios that owners could have self installed or had a radio fitter install for them.

For example:-

One of my EK's has a Ferris radio that was installed in 1968 as told to me by the previous owner who fitted it himself.

I think Sunnytim ?? has a bit of knowledge on the period radios.
I can't think what to write here so this will do.

Hi guys, does anyone know the distance between the centre of the 2 holes cut out in the dash where the original radio goes? My EK is in storage and it's hard for me to get to and I'm wanting to locate a period radio that fits without having to cut /alter the pre drilled dial holes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

i got a radio for my EK a while ago and when i went to install it, it was to deep. you have only a set distance between the top of the glove box and the bump at the top of the dash. so the important thing when looking for a radio is its height. don't get caught like i did. :x

Old thread but I'm looking for advice on air chief diamond dot radio fitment. Picked up this one which seems to be genuine holden after market for the EK commercial. Image
My question relates to the diamond dot illumination and it seems I will need to cut a small hole in the dash above the tone/volume knob on the right so that the light in the radio illuminates the blue diamond dot on the fascia. It doesn't currently have the blue dot but I found from an earlier enquiry that these are readily available via eBay.
I haven't wired it up for testing yet obviously and fitment is a long way off yet. Just that I came across it and well you know had to snap it up.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Must say I was a little surprised Mr Harvey hasn't published a guide on this as he has done with many other things to my great delight. Lift yer game Harv lol.
Cheers

Good score Clay,
Should look a treat in the van. I can hear Blue Hills cracklings through the speaker as your cruising down the coast in the future.
