hi
just woundering if anyone can tell me how to go about repairing surface rust in the roof. I have just removed the hood lining and found surface rust. I dont want to sandblast it as it will make to much mess. should I sand it back to bare metal ( I have hit it wil 60 grit and taken the top layer off, but getting it back to bare metal will be hard), or is there some prooducte out there that will neutralise the surface rust.
kind regards ekpete

Re: surface rust inside of roof
Hi Pete
I was confronted with the same problem when doing up my FB. I took care of the loose stuff with a scotch brite wheel, then applied a generous coat of POR15. Also applied to the listing wires for the headlining. Apparently that por stuff bonds with oxidized steel at a molecular level, and when dry it's as hard as all get out. Knowing that part of the car will never see light of day, I'm confident the por stuff will prevent any further rust.
