rear cylinders and shoes to suit car with HR disc front

Post by reddo »

Yo..
I have all the front end bits ready to do a disc brake conversion on my panelvan.
New VH40 booster. New rotors. new pads. caliper pistons and seals, ( recond master already on the car but will remove restrictor when the discs go on to allow pistons to retract after braking)
Trouble is i cant buy the correct rear wheel cylinders and correct rear shoes that you should run when using a HR disc brake front end.
I see a mob called "Zircon" advertising the correct rear shoes on ebay... but the mate that works at a brake specialists reckons they are shit/ wont work...
And.. i would still need to find the correct rear wheel cylinders.
Anyone know where this gear.. prefer PBR can be purchased.

If i draw a blank i will have to get a proportioning valve fitted in the brake line/pipe to the rear brakes.

Regards

i've seen them on ebay as a kit (shoes and cylinders) not pbr, i've just walked into nepean spares (st marys) got them straight over the counter also not pbr, even the local spares guy out where i live has them also not pbr
i think not pbr is better than nothing and i've had no problems with them
sometimes yor just better off shitting in yor hands and clapping

Gunna have to have a serious talk to old mate at the brake specialists.... he aint so " specialist"

My only concern now is weather the offset on the R.O.H aftermarket 13 X 5.5 ( boat trailer ) rims will clear the calipers. :?:

When I did my FB I left the rear alone, ran a VH40 I think, if that is the smaller one, and it was great, just the pedal needed a bit more effort than a late model car.

VH 44 is the smaller one - it is a 4 wheel drum brake booster. If you had used a VH40 the pedal would have been fine.
