Been a bit slow in getting these posted up, but found out last minute about a book launch for Australian Hot Rodder on the 17th of September. Weather was great so off I went for a few ours.
So glad I went, this book is put together by Greame Smith (currently writes for Herald Sun Cars Guide), Geoff Paradise (formerly Street Machine) and a few other names I can't remember. This book is a little like the Rodders Journal only purely Australian. It features some great survivors one being the Crimson Pirate (Caruana/Pirotta Bucket) a car not seen since the early 70's, some early thunderbirds and Southern Hot Rod club cars, Some from NSW and early drag racing shots. Future articles will be on Eddie Thomas now in his 90's and still working at his workshop (who was there) and more of the cars that have survived. I felt really young there as there were alot of the older guys at the launch.
Any way here are some pics...
Crimson Pirate.
Greame Smith's 32
Colin Bates 36 &*#@, this thing is awesome and driven alot.
Pirotta's Satisfaction, jeeezus it was loud!
And Leno Pirotta's 34
Not sure whose this was. Really nice though.
Genuine Shelby Cobra, body by Carol Shelby driveline all xr8 plus two turbo's for good measure. Sounded insane.
And finally a funny little green car

That '36 F0rd is beautiful. Geez , hadn't heard the name Geoff Paradise since the early 80's. Surprised Graham Smith is involved. He writes for the News Ltd papers up here in Sydney, and usually gives it to older cars
Re: Book Launch: Australian Hot Rodder

Sort of?
Design project by &*#@ US, premoted and endorsed by Shelby. with only one real car being built.
Replicas were built for the XXX movie??
The car shown in the photos was developed around the Falcon components on the Gold Coast and is produced by a company at Yatala QLD. I drive past their factory going to town
