Ute tidy up
Re: Ute tidy up
Good to hear from you again mate , top work as always - what gun do you use for spraying 'flake ?
When you're faced with an unpleasant task that you really don't want to do, sometimes you just have to dig deep down inside and somehow find the patience to wait for someone else to do it for you.

I still use a suction feed gun, as i have since the 70's for applying flake. the tip size depends on the flake size.Blacky wrote:Good to hear from you again mate , top work as always - what gun do you use for spraying 'flake ?
Re: Ute tidy up
How do you keep the 'flake suspended in the paint ? just by shaking the gun after each pass ? I have tried but it keeps sinking and the job ends up blotchy

Re: Ute tidy up
I put a dozen new 3/8 nuts on the pot.
And you keep shaking the gun up before each pass.
It keeps the flake in suspension. No different to a pre mixed spray can you buy.
Have read about the dry aplication method, and would like to give it a try. But their could be a lot of lost material.
Different people have their own methods, and as long as it comes out with the look you are after. Thats all that matters.

Re: Ute tidy up
Looks great, nice work Paul.
My mate who painted my EK roof uses ball bearings to help keep the flake moving, swirling it before each pass. Which basically has the same effect as Pauls method.

Speed and Style........... One day I'll get the speed bit.

I've been doing it all wrong all these years...I block the nozzle off with my finger after every pass and "reverse blow" through the pot to mix it!! DUUURRRRR
Scotty.
