I'm about to finish an overseas posting, and will be back in the country around the end of February. 3 years of driving a Toyota Vitz ( ) has made me keen to get back into an EK. The project car (V8 EK wagon) will come out of storage, but will take me quite a while to finish. So I'm hoping to pick up an EK somewhere between now and the end of March (fingers crossed... may be a tough call).
a) Looking for a vehicle with NSW rego, or where the current owner can provide a blue slip. Aim is to get into the vehicle and start driving it within days, even if it has a few things to fix.
b) Would really love a wagon, but would be happy with a sedan. Can't fit the kids into a ute (not in Australia anyway).
c) Would be happy with a grey or red, but if it's a red or other the vehicle must come with the appropriate engineering certificate. Don't want to get into too much trouble driving this one, the project wagon will be fun enough to keep legal. Happy to consider V6 or V8 conversions.
d) Some panel rust is OK.... major structural rust is not.
e) Paint and trim can be anywhere from nice to rough. Not looking for big-$ show paint as it will be used daily, but happy to look at something recently painted. Equally happy with something in primer or faded/non-matching paint.
f) Ideally would like vehicle to be in Sydney, but can travel for the right vehicle after seeing some photos and talking to seller (once I'm home). Can probably look at a vehicle in a 200km radius from Tamworth immediately (family in the area who can take a look).
g) Happy to talk about anything busted on the vehicle - leaks, missing parts, sticky brakes etc. I have a moderate supply of parts in storage and should be able to fix most issues.
Hoping to be successful before end-March, otherwise will probably buy a Conformadore  . Apologies for the overlong post.
