Paint in Cans

Post by NoMAD »

A while ago in a post somebody mentioned about getting pressure pack as a temp fix for paint cans made up in body colour...?

can someone tell me where to get some - in Perth would be best....will post in WA section as well.

I had one of the strips on the side of my HQ decide to half come off... with some nice size paint chips as well... luckily enough i had planned on taking them off eventually however not this soon so wanted to tidy up the paint areas until i can get a dust coat sprayed and get to the rust.

Cheers

I rang around today for the exact same thing. My local auto paint shop can do it for $30 per can. They can work off either paint code or color match what ever you have. I just Googled "auto paint supplies" and my suburb and went from there. I just need to do the bottom of the rear drivers side door where it had a rust repair, and since I have no spray equipment, this should do the trick for now, I hope.

Thanks SHME, I might just go to a panel shop and get someone to do it. Its just a pain in the ass job, its just the bottom of the door and a bit on the dogleg and thats it. Just want it touched up to match the rest of the car as it is really sh*tting me at the moment. Thanks for the advise.
Dave.

Hey Dakam, try and blend the colour in as you spray it. Its pretty easy, just rub the area around the repair with a grey scotchbrite pad( like a scourer pad) then paint the repair and blend the colour into the old paint. Let it dry then cut the panel with a buff and polish, the further you can blend the paint the harder it is to notice. If thats to hard let me know, I live only an hour away in Wonthaggi, you could bring her down and I could squirt some paint on it for you. I hope this helps Cheers Pat :)

If its colour matched (by formula or by eye) by an auto paint shop - not a place that sells cans of paint - then it will be the same as they can mix & pressurise their own cans.
The only reason for time is so everything dosen't happen at once.
