Hi guys

I have been looking at getting an FB or EK for a while now but I am really keen on a modified FB with a V8 engine.

As I live in NSW I know we have strict laws in relation to modifications ETC so I am wondering if I can upgrade a car to a V8 and get it past rego or if I would need to look for one with a V8 already in place?

Any advise on this subject would be appreciated.

yor allowed up to 330ci and it's pretty straight forward, but this all depends on yor skill level as to whether to look for one done or do it yorself

As I am a complete novice I would be looking for someone else to do it but I need to find the car first. Just was not sure if this was a option at all.

Definetly an option mate.

V8s arent a problem at all in NSW, be it SBC, BBC or Aussie V8s.

If your a novice, then give yourself a budget. If you can buy one already modified with a V8 you will definetly save cash. Its a good time to buy cars, seems they are pretty cheap for what you can get at the moment given the economic status.

If you want to modify your own, get your budget and double it . Its not a cheap task and you will need the following -

Firstly find a good engineer, dont go for the cheapest qualified engineer ... Needs to be an engineer who will give you advice with rules and tell you the limits, mods you need to complete your objective.

I.e You want a BBC in your EK holden, engineer will tell you what you need to do this - Kingswood front end, full chassis etc. Can even be a de-stroked They now the boundaries and back-doors to get things thru legally.

Work out what you want from the car - every day driver, or weekend/monthly cruiser. The engine/drive-line combo will then be determined from the vehicle requirements (i.e daily driver - injected holden V8 - 4 disc etc)
