Hi all,

I'm looking at an FB sedan with a view to possible purchase. I haven't seen the car yet (as it's 2 hours away). I've asked for the ID plate details, however can anyone tell me from this photo if the interior appears original and the paint & trim colour name (appears to be a salmon colour). Car has a white flash and appears to be in restorable unmodified condition.

Thanks

Peter

G'day the color looks like Pyramid Coral (code 9700) like my wagon, sorry don't know about the interior!

Thanks for the reply, of course I haven't sighted 'mine' and it would have it's 45 years worth of fading but is yours more pink?? Thanks all the same however, that's a nice wagon!

I've been out of the early Holdens for a number of years, had an all over grey EK wagon back in the early 1980s, but have had H series Holdens ever since. The FB I'm looking at will be a long term resto, however knowing me I'll be at it any time I can get. I'm looking forward to the memories, such as knocking my knees entering the front doors, sconning my head on the way into the back doors, looking at the distortion through the edge of the windscreen, twirling a steering wheel the size of a garbage bin lid....all the good things!! :)

That's interesting Trev, I wonder if they are FB seats or FE/FC/EK ones in mine??? I hope to get the ID numbers from the firewall at some stage, when they come through I'll post them up and we can compare notes!

I keep saying mine, however I have one hurdle to jump, ie the wife, rightly so she says now is not the right time to purchase this car (as we're moving house at the end of June), however it appears to be a good solid candidate for a resto...what to do !!! :?

Hey Peter,

Welcome to the forum. Hope the FB works out for you.

Hard to be 100% sure but yes that engine number does fit the FB EK model range.

48/FJ's had no prefix and ran from 11/1948 to 07/1956.

FE/FC's had a prefix "L" and ran from 07/1956 to 12/1959.

FB/EK's had a prefix "B' and ran from 01/1960 to 07/1962.

EJ's had a prefix "J" and ran from 07/1962 to 08/1963.

Thanks Stewart, much appreciated. I missed out on that one unfortunately. Anyway we'll wait for another opportunity in the future.
