I realised the other day that I would need to new rear wheel cylinders. So, today I rang Rare Spares and tried to order a pair. as per usual I was told that they had nothin in stock and it would take 2 weeks to order some in. And, as per usual, I told them to jam it! I gave B&R Brakes a Call at Castle Hill and they also didn't have any in stock, but within three hours they had ordered me some and they were sitting there waiting for me to pick em up. And they were about $20 cheaper a pair. Rares were $82 and B&R cost $58 ea. And whilst I was there I got them to give a drum I had a skim on the lathe, which they did for free. I wouldn't bother going back to Rares for anything to do with brakes. These guys were quick, helpful and only too keen to offer advice. Well done guys.

It may be that the place that helped you could actually do the work, and Rare Spares is like an Autobarn for hard to get parts and don't actually manufacture these parts, they rely on other companies to get the work done for them, they are the middle man so to speak.

Good to know there are some good guys still out there.

I wouldn't knock companies like Rares too much though, cos love em or hate em, things that would have long since become unobtanium from Holden are available again.

Repco at Dural are pretty helpful too if you get the older bloke there who seems to know the difference between an early grey harmonic and a later one. They would also be able to get brake parts but hey, they won't skim a disc or drum while you wait eh!!!
