hi guys,
i've painted a few cars before in metallic but not in a while (4-5 years)
i was looking at my paint tin today and saw that it said to spray "double header coats"..... what are these? i know its probably stupid but i don't want to stuff my paint job just because of pride or ego (it really isn't worth it). and help/ explanation would be much appreciated.

thanks sunnytim, i usually do the random spray patern with metallic too (i hate flake lines ) so what it means is just to shoot your spray line in one direction and instead of going straight to the overlap, lay another coat back the other way straight over the top? i thought thats what it meant, just wanted to make sure.

I usually lay the paint down wet until it covers and then thin it out a bit more, Open the fan and lay the next couple of coats a bit dry cross hatching with the spray gun to get an even effect on the mettalic. It also lets the metallic flakes stand up and you get a more glittery effect.

When I spray basecoat metallics I find they spray out motley. When it dries the motling dissapears.
