I was replacing the water pump on my 186 today. I had the new pump on and was giving the last bolt its last turn and the head snaps off

.
How do I go about getting the bolt out of the block

I did the same with mine, I started her up to see if I had any leaks. No leaks, so stuck the head of the bolt on with sylastic and she's been good for more than five years now!

can you take the pump back off and get to the shaft of the bolt or did it snap flush with the block ?

I know billy! It happened three hours before I had to leave for the Tenterfield Nats and it held on. So after the weekend was over I didn't think about it again for ages. The radiator guy told me about it after a service, He hadn't touched it but it had come out and was just hanging there, so we both agreed to just stick it back in.

All sweet, had no vice grips so I used a hacksaw to put a grove into what was left of the bolt and just used a flat blade to screw it out. Man did I shit myself when it snapped

. Thanks for the advice.

No vice grips, I wouldn't feel rite if I didn't have my vice grips, they are my favorite tool, very handy

, glad all is well, Trev

well done mat getting the snapped bolt out !
reminds me of a story i heard years ago about getting a snapped axle out of the car
it involved an arc welder and a very dangerous idea
dont know why it made me think of that maybe just aussie ingenuity
