If you position the mounts approx 5 mm forward from the rear leading edge of the HR crossmember then that is an approximate position.
But the best way ( but a more time consuming way ) is to "dummy fit" the engine and check all clearances and then do a quick tack weld in situ and then remove the engine again and weld the mounts in completely.
Dummy fit means basically fitting the engine/gearbox in as an assembly but not connecting any part of the engine to get it running.

This is by far the best way to do it. It saves having clearance issues later.

I agree totally with the "test fit" method......
A red motor in our engine bay does not offer very much room for error......
If you intend to fit a HK/T/G larger radiator - you will find that you cannot get your little finger between the "radiator fan" bolt heads and the radiator - with the motor in this position, you can barely get your fingers between the rear of the head and the join in the upper/lower firewall.......
You are probably going to ask us about the transmission mount next.....?
This thread probably needs to be moved to the "engine" section....
I'm surprised this red motor/trans modification hasn't been made into a "sticky" yet.... I know this is a well worn track..... it keeps coming up from time to time..........perhaps this time....
