Hi guys.

I was just wondering if anyone can throw any light on a Holden I saw recently in Surry Hills. It was an EK (I think) ute, but it had tailfinfins, which I had always thought were just used on sedans and station wagons. So, did some of them actually leave the factory like this, or is this car evidence of somebody's skill with a welding torch?

Hi. You've confirmed my suspicions that someone was just being a bit creative. Sorry about the quality of the photo, but it was taken with a mobile phone, I was in a hurry to get back to work and it was on the other side of the road. It was on Crown Street, near Reservoir Road BTW..........

If I see it again I'll try to get a better shot of it.

Thats Dave's ute, he lives in Coogee. I haven't seen it with those rims on it, they must be new.

Yep, thats Reddo's old ute called "Ed" that he sold a while back.I've got the old kingpin front end and the twin carbed grey ( it was an '48 FX engine ) out of it here at home for a project down the track.It had a wagon rear grafted onto it by an owner proir to Reddo owning it.

It's not the same ute as in Stewarts pics above but has the same graft done to it.

It went on a few vintage van runs while Reddo had it so some in the vintage van circles would have seen it.


From memory it was an EK with an FB subframe so was registered by the goons at NSW RTA as an FB because of its replacement subframe ( or vice versa ?? ).

I was only talking to Dave the other day actually (he owns Sauce the restaurant in Coogee) nice custom fins, I reckon they look sweet. It's his daily.

I bought the car off a bloke that works at the RAAF Base at williamtown near Newcastle.

It had a grey with twin carbs and Jack Meyer headers.
I fitted a 186, 186s dual throat carb , manifold and cast iron 186 s headers, HR Radiator, HR disc front end .
The wheels are 14" steel "elstars".i fitted the flappers.. ( love / hate.. )...please yourself
Dave had the option of those or 13" dragways when he won it on ebay.

100 litre stainless drop tank with filler necks from either side.
wagon rear graft.
Slightly flared guards

Bloke that bought it from Brissy drove from Bris vegas to Buladelah and could not believe that he had only used 70 litres..just under 3/4 of a tank.. not a bad effort with twin carbs

again.. another one of my mistakes .. i should have never sold it.
I have tried twice to buy it back... no luck.
Missus rubs the shit into me every time the car gets a mention....nag, nag, nag....

I will never learn..... should take the Mortien fly spray adverts advice..

That just looks great.
I know it's not standard but I love fins on utes and vans.

Just seems to sit really well.
And I love the wheels on that, with the flappers.
