can you use a hr swaybar? are heavy duty swaybars built stiffer for hr's as they weigh more? just asking as i'm running a 186 so i've got more weight on the front wheels (well i think i do).
sorry for hijacking.

i think the bar i used to have in mine was a 24mm K-MAC bar .... not that the brand matters .... i have seen two different ones, at the front of the engine one goes forwards to clear the balancer, and the other one goes down .....
i think the one that goes down actually hits on the hr front end outrigger .... I THINK!....
its been a long time!

Yo
I fitted a Heavy duty sway bar to my FB ute last night along with 2"lowered Lovell springs and Monroe gas shocks.
I removed the bar from a HR ute.
It fitted straight into the EK front end.
The bad has a bump in it facing forward.
Was thinking even if ya had a HR front end in your FB /EK you are using the FB/EK outrigger anyway..
So the HR sway bar will fit no matter what crossmember you have under there.
Only mod i had to carry out was to bend the corner of the lower mudgaurd support angle where it bolts on just near the bend in the sway bar ( rear hole on the front bumper bar bracket."
You will have to get new sway bar rubbers with bigger holes in them for the 2 pivot clamps . The heavy bar are a lot thicker than the original 25mm compared to about 20 on the old one.
The old van sits a lot better and handles a lot better now.
Ride hieght didnt drop all that much either so still have the 2/3rds of the original suspension travel if the wankers want to bring in thier new hoon car laws in the future

Yep, the HR sway bars will fit and yep that "bump" in the centre can be a problem with lowered cars.Standard or slightly lowered cars would be OK but I had to shorten my wishbone-to-sway-bar links by 1.5 inch to stop the "bump" from rubbing and rattling on the front outrigger as mine is 3 inch lowered.
You should be able to obtain larger diameter pivot bushes in polyurethane from any good suspension place.

Never owned an EH, are they a straight bar between the pivot point or do they have the "bump" as the HR bars do??

From memory the mount from bar to control arm came from rare spares

Sweet thanks Ben. Do I need stabiliser bar ends to suit lowered FB-EK? Or are they standard lengths??

I think its one kit fits all (rare spares). But Im sure a good suspension shop would have universal kits of various lengths.

I realise this is an old subject but just incase anyone is still watching it,,,
I have the HR front end and tried the HR sway bar and it needs me to cut a half tube in to the outrigger to fit it on ? thought about it and don't want to do that yet,, I then tried an FB/EK sway bar and it was maybe 20 mm shorter than the HR one so this wouldn't fit either, Im confused,,,
I will look in to the EH sway bar but not sure where ill find one to try,,,
the FB/EK sway bar pulled the risers to the front towards the centre at maybe 45 deg between front and centre and pulled them forward to an angle equivalent to about 1 O'Clock, just using the lame language trying to get it understood,, haha, maybe I need to take photos of both on there and start a new thread, Ill try that if nothing comes from this thread,,,
thanks
