great pics feute. In the original pic of the EK with FB trim and dual front overriders are you able to read the number plate? is it CHL...? intersted as my plate is CHL 061.

I asked Dale about those three and others he had built when I did the first major story on him and the cars he had built, almost 25 years ago.
He had no knowledge of where they went, or if they still existed.

Was told that the yellow EK was turned into a drag car, and possibly is the same one that was later two doored. If it is I have a couple of photos of it outside my shop about ten years ago, on a tilt tray as it was being transported somewhere.

It's amazing how something simple (in concept) like the dual headlights can change the overall look of the car.

but dont worry I reken Dale did so many custom jobs that he would struggle to remember them all. He also did work on cars that were less than 2 years old and all sorts of makes

They number in the hundreds, from small changes to total transformations. He only photographed a small persentage of the work he performed. But can still remember in detail how he went about many of the changes he made to customers cars.

Up untill the late 80's he was responsable for building more convertibles from sedans, than anyone else in Australia. It took buisnesses with many employees to better his achievements during these years.

The FB wagon was taken to him by the owner, the day it was picked up from the dealer. For the headlight conversion

Hi Paul - was the major story something for a magazine? or similar? Is Dale still about. He would have a stack of great stories to tell.

It was for a 14 page story on Dale, and covered a small selection of cars he had designed and built for himself and customers since the early 1950's.

Was in the first issue of Super Street magazine in 87 (22 years ago!)
And the first time he was given the long overdue credit for the enormous contribution he had made to the custom car movement in this country

Dale is still around, and is one of the nicest guys you would ever meet.

He unfortunatly no longer does any work on cars, but still has that great passion for all things automotive
