hey i have a 186 with a cain manifold adaptor plate with a ww twin barrel strom on it. Tuned it when i first got the car was running sweet after about two weeks was back to the shit again.

To cut a long story short i have to play around with it a fair bit. I havent put a kit throught it yet but just mainly wanting to know if its worth it?.

A few mates have told me from the experiences with the carby they work really well when there tuned but if you dont like tuning them all the time better not to have it.

share ya thoughts?

In the supercharged red 6 instructions from Castlemaine Rod Shop it says that the Stromburg carb gets better HP figures than the Holley and better economy as well, so I would rebuild the Stromburg, Trev 8) .

Stick with the WW. Get it rekitted and make sure the power valve piston is not sticking. As long as no heavy handed boof heads have tightened the securing screws too tight on the top air horn and body to base, there should be no distortion of the Air assy and base.

One of the biggest downfalls of the carb is lack of knowledge by service personnel.

Can someone tell me
on the ww stromberg carb on the thermostat cover assembly the part that operates the choke where the thread is with the hole in it its sucking air is this hole meant to suck air or does it get blocked off or does it go somewhere? I think I read that it had a copper pipe going to the header <I dont have headers should I block it or leave it :?:
And I dont have the choke hooked up

Thanks

It was originally thermostatically controlled off the exhaust gasses, so when it heated up the choke closed. Most were fitted with manual choke conversions when the spring in them rusted out or stuck.
