Looking for some advise on an old EK Panelvan i have rusting in the yard. I would love to get it on the road but dont know if its worth the time / money effort. Its a window less with a 186 in pieces, HR front end (seen better days ), dont know the box but i've been told its and Imparla Straight shift ( think thats right ).

The body has minor rust in the subframe and the drivers side door pillar has to be repaired / replaced as well as the tailgate, floors etc (rusted).

I'm not the mechanicaly minded type but willing to do what i have to to get it on the road.

The main thing i would need to know is :


1... it worth doing or scrap for parts and get a nother
2... How much would i be looking at for a full resto on an old model panel van ( including auto installed and rear window filled ).
3... Any one in melbourne Who can do it for me over 6months a year and again how much.
4... Need the vehicle for towing as well what engine would be best??

I know its a bit long winded but realy need advise.

Would post a pick but only new and dont know how?

Hi Luke.If you have'nt done it already try and get it under cover or at the very least get it under plastic or some other type of cover (try to allow it to "breathe" as plastic can still allow moisture underneath if its not ventilated a little).This will help slow the rusting process and may still give you a restorable car as opposed to the result from exposure to the elements.
Haveing a windowless panelvan is a bonus.
Think carefully before scrapping.It maybe a rebuildable one and once chopped up thats another one gone .
My first car was an FB windowless panalvan.An ex shooting car I bought for $30 when I was about 15 yrs old so I have a soft spot for them.

Maybe some Melbourne fellas could send you a personal message and arrange a lookey see to give you some advice as to what to do and some approx costs involved.
The more work you can do yourself the more you save on resto costs but a full resto isn't cheap anyway.If you've never restored before it can be a bit overwhelming as to where to start but you will be surprised at what you can learn along the way.
I'd join the Vic FB/EK club and I'm sure the members will help you out.
