Your right Andrew but they seem pritty rare as i have been looking for a while. You can buy the rebuild kit for them easy enough should you find one. Another option you could look into is a electric system which some of the front wheel cars use. I heard of a holden barina system that has been grafted to a rx7 steering colume under the dash.
This sort of system might work

Sat the rack on the front of a CRS front end that is lying under a tree where it belongs

and the Corty rack is almost exactly the same length as the narrowed Torana one so it looks promising. The steering shaft runs directly into the 6 cyl engine mount however so it may be necessary to run an engine plate or something .
I would take a photo but I cant find the !#$%%&*) camera

they used to put the cortina rack on LH/LX/UC as a power steer conversion and people use torana racks on HR fronts so i can't see why it wouldn't work
BUT i'm pretty sure the commodore rear mount rack conversions can be had in normal or power steer

You need to narrow a Commodonor rack so that limits it to manual steer ones

Havent done a thing with the power rack - dont need to set one up and I have enough on my plate trying to get my ute ready for the nats , finish house renos and get my Chev sorted etc etc etc .

The rack and pinion steering in our EK was so light that my sister had no problem steering it in confined spaces. You fellas shouldn't need power assisted racks, manual is easy enough!

Just yesterday had me head under an EK that a mate in a local town has and it has a rear mount commodore power steering on a modifed HR front end ( V6 commodore ) and is registered and on road.
