Changing my Engine

Yep so I wanna put in the 202, my grey is running a bit dodgy
I am considering putting in a manual gear box, I wanna be able to have some fun in it, squeak my tyres etc so Im looking for more power.
So yes I will have to take the engine out,
1.will the red sit on the same mounts as the grey?
2.will I be able to use the same accelerator linkages?
3.change the brake pedal,
4.add a clutch pedal,
5.can i take pedal assembly out of a torana or something?
6.cut a hole in the floor for the shifter,
7.or could I somehow put it in the column? (wanna keep it original looking)
8.can i use the same wiring etc?
9.can i still use the same drive shaft?
10.can i use craig's old recored grey radiator?
Andrew put a new engine in one of his rides, it was bigger and he just called up and said he wanted to change the engine number. I dont wanna go to the pits so I think I will just do that. If not just run it in there illegally and paint it grey or somethin
If someone could please answer those questions it'd be awesome!
cheers
Jay

hi mate
1 No new mounts are needed
2 with a bit of work
3&4&5 get the manual brake pedal and a cluch pedal from a manual car FB EK
6&7 cut a hole ore use a manual colum and linkages that you get the pedals from (if you you were in brivegas we could have swapped)
8 blinkers and horn shold just plug in you will have bridge the neutral safety swith
9 if you use a FX to EK 3 speed in the original position you can use a manual tail shaft however if you are putting in the red upgrade the box aswell
10 If it is in good nick it might be OK
If you dont get it approved and you have an accident and it is discovered you have a larger engin in it your insurance will not cover you if you dont have intentions of doing it leagaly be carfull with putting it on a public forum
Im shur you will get heaps more input from those with more knowlege but I hope this helps

Correct me if I'm wrong but the distro on the grey is at the rear, whereas the Red is in the middle - an astute insurance accessor may spot this if the worst happens - best to get it all legal I reckon.

Yep, be carefull about mentioning illegal modifications on a public forum.
I am told by a person that would definatley know, that there are people in some law enforcement/registration authority and/or insurance companies that do peruse forums and are employed to do so to gather certain information from them.
I'll leave it at that.

Sorry J I must have been unclear on the phone. I have never done an engine swap. What I meant to communicate to you is that our FB and EK are both running reds, and the people at the pits didn't require and engineering guff for them when we presented them for inspection. I was thinking of this form when telling you that all you needed to do was phone them up and tell them of your engine swap:

And a few real life Western Australian cases here:

Wouldn,t you need to change to a disc brake frontend for a 202 (if not already done that is) and then you would need a eng cert?well in nsw you would i,d say.

He already has discs, regardless in WA you don't need a disc front end. That is MY personal experience with 2 cars (161 and 186). 202 could be different but I doubt it.
