yeah i'm up on the saftey glasses
had my fair share of metal grindings in my eyes
finally learnt my lesson on that one atleast
and cause i'm not working at present
i can't go to work and say it happened there and get it removed on there coin plus paid time off work
didn't think the spring was overly important, but just the fact it was originally put there for some reason
thanks

I have only ever pulled this one off once, Mick - and hope I never have to do it again...... I ended up pulling out the instrument cluster and steering wheel.
Sitting in the driver's seat, I fitted the dash end of the spring in place then slide a bar through the spring and pushed on both sides with my feet until it went over the back of the mount..... hope I never have to go back to that one.
My opinion for the spring is that it is an "over-centre" spring..... agree with Greg but may add that by being over-centre - assists with holding the pedal down whilst in traffic or "riding" the clutch - probably gives a little more "fine control" on the release until the clutch "picks up"...... my opinion entirely..... just he way I have come to see it....

ps - Mick - if you try my method - be very careful of your shins.... if that rod (or screwdriver) slides out.... think you get the picture......
