The driver's door I'm using doesn't want to go up any higher

I've adjusted both halves of the two hinges and I can't seem to get the door the right height.
I've lifted the door on the hinges and lifted the hinges on the body.

It's touching the sill

Is there any other way I may be missing when I'm trying to do this

Just done this myself, what you need is a second person inside the car, loosen off the 6 bolts inside the doors, gently close the door then get it sitting in the rite spot and get your friend to tighten all the bolts he/she can get to (1 on top and all 3 on the bottom from memory), open the door and tighten the rest. Yep hanging doors is easier with 2 people. Also make sure your front gaurds are on and bolted down. You need to check clearances otherwise you run the risk of the front door might hitting the gaurd.

Oh Yeah
Doors can be a pain.
Sometimes you need to persuade them to fit if you run out of adjustment.
Eg lifting, pushing and twisting in fact actually bending them.
Because of the close tolerances back in those days its sometimes a necessary evil.

Haven't had to adjust doors for a loooooooooooong time but if the methods the other fellas have suggested don't work and you still need the door to adjust upwards try placing a jack under the door with a block of wood and some rag to protect the paintwork and jack it up.Once its up as far as it will go,tighten the adjusting bolts up and see how it goes.

Or use this idea in combination with the other blokes ideas above .

Its one way that I was able to adjust a non conforming door years ago.

Might work, might not work, but worth a go.

but I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to these little things.

hm....... yes I have issues with the doors I removed and re-fitted to mine - but the story probably justifies the result.....

If I ever have to re-spray again - I'll probably take to them with some persuasion so they follow the body line more closely - I too, like things to "fit".... but in preference to bashing - I'll live with it for now......

Too many other projects to finalise before I retire and start on the next project......

I'm having a similar problem with my drivers door. As you can see in the photo, the door is angled outwards on the bottom, and has gotten worse over the past few weeks. Its becoming a pain to try and close it.

I have noticed that the door moves a little up and down when open..........dunno if that has anything to do with it.

Very probably loose hinges,
It could be the hinge to body bolts, (its bolted from inside the door jamb, and also there are bolts under the front gaurd facing back into the hinge)
OR, hinge to door bolts (remove the door trim for access)
You'll just have to investigate it.

Is it possible that the pin in the hinge has worn? which would make the door get out of alignment?

Thanks Thommo. The movement looks like its from the bolts inside the guard that you mentioned, as I checked the ones on the door and they seem fine.

When they get too worn, you can add spacers.

Placed under the relevant bolt
Can bring almost anything back into position. Almost ??

me and my brother have been linin up his fj doors which are really hard might i add, weve gone from bottle jack inside the door space to ove the pillars, slicing right down the edge then hammerin it over and reweldin,
all sorts of crazy thngs because of poorly designed hinges, mind you should turn out half decent
might i add its the only car ive had to do that wif as eks and the rest have adjustment on both door and body whereas fj only on door
