Thanks for the words of encouragement everyone..
The ute was a standard XG (no tray), probably sitting a bit higher at the back. The EK was also sitting a bit lower and under braking, the bumper went straight under the tailgate etc, leaving the headlight and surrounding guard to absorb the impact. There was a tow bar... The grill copped that one.
