does anybody know if a crs chassis kit out of a manual body is the same as an auto body
ie: will a man body chassis kit go in an auto body car

don't really care if i use it or not just saves making a gearbox crossmember

plus they seem to sell well on the bay

I'm guessing it will fit no probs.
CRS only made one version,
not a manual or auto versions.

Exact same Mick, CSR only ask the following when ordering one - just need to specify 6 or 8 when ordering and gearbox type.

Only difference is the section in the sedan body where the B pillar is. Not sure if this is a body type feature sedan vs van or a gearbox difference. Ive always presume its a body difference thou, any ideas ?

think there was something wihc was bolted from the engine mounts to the subfrrame extra for v8.s..... didn't need it on sixes -

the only difference i'm aware of with these kits is the location and/or shape of the gearbox crossmember depending on what gearbox you have but as far as the main rails and the front subframe tie in rails go its all the same stuff.

when my dad and i ordered ours we got two kits that looked identical with only crossmember shape and mounting location being the noticable differences.

WELL WELL WELL, so they're all the same are they i must have a prototype car then, cause the channel/crossmember from sill to sill where the subframe bolts and the chassis kit bolts through, on a manual car it's 45mm on an auto body it's 55mm, so there's no way a man body kit will go on an auto body car unless it's modified or i have a one off

ALSO, started the process of modifying the kit to fit over channel and now find out that the gearbox crossmember also hits the factory floor bracing so a manual chassis kit WILL NOT go into an auto car without quite a bit of modification, an auto chassis kit will go in a manual car sort of

next time i'm unsure i'll get my tape measure out and check myself

none of this counts if like i said i have a one off prototype car

the difference in underbody chanel width

gearbox crossmember interferance with underbody chanel

i had to modify the 'u' on the rail because i had the floor cross braces replaced - this would account for the replacements size as it is designed to fit manuals and autos

gearbox mount looks like an inch needs to be taken out of both sides and then 2 inches added in to the lower section

but all my floor cross braces are stock original so that rules that out and the gearbox crossmember i'm guessing is what came with the kit so would never have fit

Hey Ratboox i had to make up a new crossmember for mine it also hit like yours , so they are not the same .

Checked all three of my Hydramatic bodied EK's versus manual bodied EK's and also FB's.

Can also confirm that EK Hydramatic bodied cars have a thicker/wider front underfloor crossbrace than manual bodied cars.

EK Hydramatic front under floor brace is 55 mm thick/wide.

EK Manual and all FB's are 43 mm think/wide.

So a CRS chassis kit will have to be modified ( as per rats comments ) to fit an auto bodied car.

I don't think CRS make one especially for auto bodied cars ??

rod's usually at summernats, always says giday to me so i'll quiz him on it and get it from the horses mouth as to whether there's 2 kits

I guess it doesnt matter now does it , unless you plan on ripping it out.
