hi, i'm just wondering how to best get the special badge off the glovebox door without cracking or breaking.
i thought i'd ask before getting into it and finding out the hard way that i'd done it wrong.

Slowly and carefully work it off with a flat blade screwdriver or similar object. You will see it start to lift, just make sure you keep it relatively level as you work it off.

I haven't done this, but have removed other "delicate" badges/letters from time to time -
As DR say - careful - do not get ham fisted with it.....

What I find works for me is to get a thin blade (I use a very thin strip of polished stainless with all edges "honed" off).
I lay some masking tape down above and below where I intend to work to protect the paint.

I then slip the blade in very carefully and slide it along until I locate the mounting tags. At these tags I mark the masking tape with a texta line.

And finally, try to very, very carefully prise the badge up - working at one tag a little before moving on to the next -

If all goes well - you should be able to lift this out progressively in sessions until it comes clear.... do not get impatient with this or you'll be remorseful.......

I feel there are three tags under the special badge on the glove-box - but I have not had to pull one up yet......

kindly advise - very much appreciated when I come to re-spray my interior......

Rosco you never fail to put up bloody helpful tips. Way more detailed than my effort and the way to go. I failed to mention I started with a smaller screw driver and worked my way up.

okay guys, i got it off without breaking it so i'll tell you all how i did it.
1: i started off by generously spraying the dash panel and badge with lanoline spray.
that helped loosen the badge and lubricate the panel for the tools so they didn't scratch too much.

2: i then made a selection of different width and thickness tools to gently pry the badge from the panel. i then proceeded to start lifting the badge firstly finding the locations of the pins.

i continued lifting going from one pin to the other being careful to lift evenly so i didn't snap the badge in half.



every now and then i'd spray a bit more lanoline onto the pins to try helping them come out.
then finally


i hope this helps anyone going to be doing this soon.
i can see that masking around the area would help to minimise worry about scratching the panel but as i'm sanding it down and respraying it anyway i wasn't too worried. heres a pic of the glovebox panel after taking the badge off to show that with care not much damage will occur. Rocso's help about "honing" the edges off the tools helped immensely,
