What tyres should I get?

Well rego is coming up and I need to get some new tyres for the EK.
I'm hoping someone here can please help me with advice on what to ask for so I at least SOUND like I might know what I'm talking about
I have absolutely no mechanical knowledge whatsoever, but eager and willing to learn!
I was hoping to get whitewalls again as I really like how they look

but willing to listen to pros and cons if anyone has an opinion/advice they'd like to offer.
I also have written down on a scrap of paper from a previous forum discussion
" Khumho Touring 795 - 13mm whitewalls - 185/75 "
.....but have no idea what the numbers mean or if this tyre is even available still !?
Also, if anyone could offer suggestions for dealers/fitters they would recommend (I'm in Earlwood)
thanks, Sue x

hey lolly, just a heads up, if you want a narrow band white wall, theres some on ebay for sale.
if you want flappers like mine, i can pm you a number.
Try getting the black tyres, 13' in size, and as much height as possible.
My personal pet hate is cheap tyres, due to noise and grip. Also if your going to use flappers, try get the tyres with miminal writing on the side walls so the flappers sit flush.
Ohh and... the 185- is the width, 75- is height.

I thought the number that refers to sidewall height - in this case 75 - was the height expressed as a percentage of the width - ie 75% of 185, not 75 actual millimetres???
Please correct if I'm wrong..

I'm pretty sure it is that though.

Having a hard time getting some 185/80x13's & wondering if you could go to a 175/80x13 without too many problems.
I'm using standard 4.1/2 inch rims so 185's would be the maximum width wise - would they not ???

you can get 185/80/13's with a thin band white wall, roughly $100 ea
its worth it, flappers will rip off

Where from J - was chasing GT Highway's, they were $100 odd but they no longer produce them (so I'm told), can get Khumo's for around $120 but not sure if they are that good.

Ah, you got to love a car that you can replace all 4 tyres for less than $500. I just put new boots on my cruiser and didn't get much change from $1,500. Mind you that's Pilbara prices.
Sorry, I know this has no relevance to the discussion. Just another reason I can explain to my missus the benefits of driving a classic.

I'm hopefulyy getting mine today. 185/80-13 Khumo whitewalls.
450 bucks for a set.
The same dude sells 185/70-13 for 375 a set. Same tyres EK Dreamer has.
You can also get Cooper whitewalls in 185/80-13 for about 140 each.
If you don't want whitewalls, JAX tyres do sell a Maxxis 185/80-13, but they were about $140 a tyre (fitted).

Bugger!! I couldn't find those Khumos when I was looking, so ended up getting plain black Michelin ones 185/70/13. Seeing as I live in the heart of doofdoof country, I found thse people
http://www.redwalltyres.com.au/ who will paint a thin whitewall on (apparently it is etched in with some sort of latex.) They wouldn't do it on the brand new tyre, and I think I've actually got enough miles on them now to get it done. Will report back on how it goes!
