I'm gunna make it a 3 dayer.
Headin down there Friday around 2-ish . Hopefully get a powered site just through the swap meet gate on the right.
Once the gates open on Friday arvo most of the hard core sellers charge straight over to the edge of the tarred streets and set up thier sites...... Then freeze thier nuts off for 2 nights sleeping in swags and the backs of wagons etc.,

I usually tow one of my old caravans down full swap meet goodies as well as all the soft cock electrical appliances like fan heaters, electric blankets, jugs and toasters.

Look for the lowered silver blue Chevy C1500 Ute and old ply caravan or.........A bloke wandering around wrapped in an electric blanket with a 500 metre extension lead dragging along behind him.

Free hot coffee and a 5 minute hire of the insides of a heated caravan( 5 minutes or the first fart what ever comes first) for all FB/EK lookers who buy something off me before 7.00am.
Minus 4 degrees the past few years..... cant wait, cant wait, cant wait....

Filled the Ch%v up at Croydon Vic on saturday arvo
Fuel gauge was reading just under half a tank and it took 70 litres.
Drove to Holbrook and stayed the night after getting on the "suds at the pub opposite the sub".

Got up sunday and drove up through Tarcutta. Heard a rattling noise up under the front somewhere. pulled up and investigated. Right brake caliper coming loose.
I flew to melbourne so had no tools to fix it. Drove on into Gundagai and rang the NRMA. They turned up about 1/2hr later. Took one look at the ute and said"Thats an American car... I cant fix that"

I got him to open his workshop. grabbed the right socket and ratchet bar. Crawled under the front end and tightened both bolts on both sides myself. Climbed out from under the car... handed him the socket and bar and drove off.

Got up to Marulan and was reading half a tank on the gauge . Filled her up and took 70 litres to do 385 MILES... Not real good at my conversion/gozzintas but thats somewhere around 18 to 20 MPG. Not too shabby for an 262 cube (4.3L) V6 in 1800kg truck driven at 110kph all day.
I am still running around on the tank of fuel i bought 2 saturdays ago. gauge is again reading a bit above 1/2 tank at 680 miles since i bought it , or 295 miles since last fill up at Marulan.
I'm guessing its around a 100 litre tank. Ya never seem to get as many miles outta the lower half of a tank as you do on the first halfa tank.

Rang the previous owner . brakes where serviced the week before i picked it up !!.. Someone in Devonport stuffed up when replacing the front pads.
Other than that i am happy with it. The HR ute on dedicated gas use to swallow 50 litres to do 150 miles.(15 MPG) Newcastle to Marulan and she was empty. Mind you i was towing a box trailer, it had a worked motor and i use to give it a bit of a flogging. Could have probably got 18 or better driven more sedately.

Have fitted a towbar to the Ch3v . just gotta stiffen the arse end a bit so the tub dont rub on the 8" eagle rims when i tow something. Should be all sorted by next friday for the trip to All Holden Weekend.... Clarendon.

NRMA and repco both as useless as each other, i know a guy that works for the NRMA and i wouldn't let him work on a billy cart

The motor is a 350 chev with the back 2 cylinders cut off. The bloody thing lops along at 1500 to 1800 revs at 110 > 120KPH. I think i changed gear twice between Gundagai and Marulan. ... and that was only 5th back to 4th.
Sorta like a red motor / 5 speed/ 3.08 in an early holden... does it easy on the highway.

The thing looks like a roller skate with 8 inch rims. dropped spindles in the front and notched chassis at the rear to get the whole thing down about 2 or 3 inches. The diff housing misses the tub floor by about 2" . They have notched out about 2" of a 4" thick chassis at the rear and strengthened it.
Might look at whacking a couple of air bags / air shocks under there to hold the bum up a bit .

With power steer and soft suspension it rides more like a statesman than a 1.5 ton work truck.

Monsterous bench seat easy swallows three people without rubbing shoulders. A one metre long gear stick sorta looks old skool "truck like"

Heres the killer ... Because it weighs over 1504Kg it comes under light truck rego in NSW= $618 a year + green slip @ $316... Not much change out of a grand a year for rego. HR /EK utes where around $600 all up. Bit of a bummer ...... Bro is already holding bets on how long i keep it
After just shelling out around $1600 for reg and insurance i will be getting some use out of it before it hits ebay

nice ride reddo not sure if its the exact same model but theres one near my house lowered also. actually its only five mins from the all holden day

Truth be told ek jay, saturday has a lot of one day swapers who seem to leave before sunday (must have the same wife drama as you). Specials are better on saturday, becuase sunday seems to pull a premium due to level of people there.

Personally, my findings is that prices seem to esculate at AHD, and the over priced site charge is almost to painfull to pay both days.

Reddo, i was always told that nrma only ment "no real mechanics around".
