Hi guys,my name is Andrew and i am a new member.I thought i might post some pictures of my Twilight Turquoise FB. The car has been in my family for 45yearsIt has been sitting in a shed untouched for 14 years until now. I have redone the brakes and pulled the motor out to give it a freshen up(it has a 138 red motor which replaced the grey in 1977).I am currently rewiring the car and it is going to be a daily driver. Great work - love your "bay' - I can see you've been pretty busy in here.....

Guess my intake manifold has to come out now - haven't seen one put to the buff yet - looks magic.....

Rocker cover - got to ask, sorry - is it chrome plated alloy - if not - I'm going to be in your ear about how you polished it...... magic!
If you have the Kryal Kastings rocket cover - did you find it had to be "eased" at the front where it interfered with the thermostat housing - needed about 3/16" taken from mine to get it to fit without removing the thermo housing.......

I found some rubber "plugs" and caps from Clark Rubber to fit into the holes of the engine whilst working on it helps keep out the "nasties" - I keep these in a separate container which "travels" with the vehicle.
I also find using a lid from a "Vegemite" jar just fits the carburettor nicely if packed with a piece of cloth
................you've done some work on that carby too.......... very neat.

I am in the process of coating a lot of my polished alloy and brass fittings with POR "Glisten PC" it's a hammer tough clear coating which they state won't yellow or dull................. we'll see - so far, so good.........
Won't do the rocker cover - I am a firm believer this modification is also meant to "cool" the top of the engine............

Are you going to run an external oil filter - I have a red in mine and it's a pretty messy job changing the engine mounted one......

If you haven't put the battery tray in yet - you might like to consider fitting a drain tube - it helps prevent any battery "wash" getting into the front left corner of the sub/baffle.....
I welded a tube to the bottom of my tray and ran it out through the hole in the sub immediately under the tray - I may now make a flexible connection and run it to the rear of the cross-member.......

Love your work on the firewall - looks very neat.
I can see the fills you have done - I spent three months getting my voids out.......

Baffle cross-members - wow - very much impressed - is the black- acrylic? - I now fit covers over mine when working in there - great finish, but chips and scratches pretty easily - probably should have got someone to spray mine in 2K.........

I expect you still are using the grey box.............? did you notice any difference between the grey 138 and the red one............... it was my original plan when I was told in the early '80's I couldn't get a replacement grey................ they lied and I stuffed up a great vehicle.........

I puts a BIG smile on my face whenever I see a car that has been in a family for so long STAY in the family and an even BIGGER smile when the custodian of the car appreciates it and looks after it.

Well done Andrew, never let that one go.Its part of your family's history and all of the work and modifications done do it over the years are pages from your family's book.

Can you throw up some details of how it came to be in your family,who drove it,some of your memories of trips in the car maybe.

I'm interested and I'm sure other forum members would be to.

Hi paraharo...... it was intentional - just didn't put it in parenthesis........

we had a thread running for awhile - rocket covers ............... its' back in the dark old days when unleaded petrol hadn't reached $1.50..........

I usually edit, edit and re-edit a number of times - you'll see this if you try to read any of my posts as soon as I submit them................ they'll disappear again and again........... and again in front of your eyes - whilst I read it through on the forum and fix stuff.....or - usually add to it..........

off topic a little but rosco why not put a grey back in yors if it was such a mistake, you can bolt it up to the aussie for better gearing

Thanks for the great welcome. I will try to post some more pictures when possible.Yes the rocker cover is chrome alloy and i had no troubles with fitting of it.The manifold and carby are the result of many hours of hand polishing and raw skin thanks to my father who also made the alloyheat shield which we anadised gold.

thanks for that - I have one of the chromed alloy types on another car......
My Kryal one is hand polished - tell your Dad - I am very chuffed by his patience - I know how determined you have to be to get there.........

My intake manifold is different to yours - mine is ex HR...... I'm not sure of yours - but guess we are going to have both polished versions to put up for display......... great work, Andrew.....

ps RB - if I ever find that original engine B 210600 - I have vowed to re-fit it.....and as many have said - they can supply me a "new" one - sorry - has to be the original - I know the dents I put in it when fitting various things - have many pix of that faithful old "donkey".......
