5 speed with bench seat

Post by Malcolm »

Hey guys,

Can anyone tell me if you can fit a 5 speed to a FB/EK with an original bench seat.
If so what 5 speed fits.

Cheers

i had an alfa 5 speed in my flat blue sedan and that came up well infront of the seat
i looked at an FE with a celica box that came up just infront of the seat but my wagon has to have a cut out, but i'm pretty sure with the celica box there is shift position variations

I had an FB Ute with a Celica 5 speed. The bench had a slight cut out, but a straight gear stick, if you went a bent gear stick with the original bench seat, it would clear from memory!!!

It was great to drive also!!!

Hey Fatboy,

I couldn't imagine there would be much difference in shape from an EH seat to an FB seat. How much do you have to change the shape of the shift.
A picky of the finished article would be good if you can when its done.

ill document everything and take pics .Ek seat front goes straight down eh has a slight slope at the bottom the s in the shifter will probably be around the 60 to 80 mm mark.Main concern if the seat is moved forward then the shifter will bind so will do a template tomorrow and get some rod bent and try it out tomorrow night when i get home from work

Charging camera now to take pics tomorrow of how i cut it up In the centre of the bench i cut out roughly 160mm back into the seat and 160mm wide so when the seat is pushed forward it still works perfectly
