Hi all,
Some people may know me and some may not. I am the owner of fxfjholden.com a similar site to this, and my site has been running about 4 years now.
I own 4 FJ's and wait for it a Green EK Standard Sedan.
Since my FJ V6 ute build is almost over I am about to embark on my first EK modification build. I am going to put a Commodore 304 in it, this motor was originally for my FJ van but as I am in Canberra can not get the FJ Van registered with a 304, however I can in an EK, because an EK is heavier then an FJ.
The 2 pics I have attached are from when I first got the car in early 2005. I will take some more before I pull it done for the rebuild.
The car currently has HR running gear and a 186 trimatic. The motor goes quite well, but there is still nothing like the sound of a V8.
The car is not bad really, It needs 2 new front guards (which I have sourced) and new outer sills. But who knows what else it will turn up when its naked.
I will keep this post updated, but I am not a fast builder so don't be surprised if I don't post anything for weeks or months
Anyway thats about it for now, Im learning a lot about FB and EK's. If anyone wants to have a look at my site feel free.

Cheers

Hey Jason, your Ute looks great.
Look forward to seeing the progress on your EK.
Slow and steady is how I do mine also, but not by choice.
Welcome to the FB/EK forum.

Great colour Jason. Can't see too much 215 standard style yet as the window trim front and back are special style together with the headlight surrounds & the Tail light frames. The guard side moulds are 215
Looks cool though.
What about the dash, is that plain?

Although an electric scooter sounds tempting (with fuel prices and all) I think my wife would kill me after the money I have poured into the FJ, if I said yes, so no sorry I would have to pass.....
I'm actually looking forward to the rebuild of this car as it is completely different to the FJ's I have built.
I bet I will be cursing every time I break my knee caps on the wrap around dash.
Next step is to make a rotisserie for the car. A friend here in Canberra has one so I will copy his!.
Anyway if anyone in Canberra would like to show me there FB or EK I would be more then happy to have a look as this is all new to me.

Hey Jason, did you see the thread on the possibility of Rare's making the old original 215 Rear windscreen rubber?

yeah did see that.
I suppose the "standard" is like my FJ standard I also have. Basically it is decromed and there is bugger all chrome on a standard.
If I compare my FJ standard to a FJ special it looks very bare.
BTW Steve got the mail the other day re club.
I will be at the Sydney AHD in August (maybe in the FJ ute)

Hi guys,
My FJ ute is almost finished, so that means I am about to start the EK Standard to V8 EFI build.
I picked up a &*#@ fuel tank yesterday and have attached some pics of that. I have also attached some photos of the passenger side - its a little hard to take some photos until I clean the shed out a bit.
I have attached a photo of the current engine bay with the 186 in it. Everything that you see in the engine bay is for sale the red motor and 3 speed trans etc. If anyone is interested drop me a message.

OK September 2008 was the last time I have posted about the forgotten car in my fleet. The Valletta Green EK Standard Sedan.
The car has been (and still is) in storage since Feb 2009.
I have been accumulating parts since then and now have some good special guards (which I will return to standard) some reworked HT steel rims and some nice original HT hubcaps. I am acquiring a bench seat from minifb, just have to work out how to get it (to replace the buckets in it). An original EK auto steering column from matches, some trampoline springs and linkage from Trev and other parts from other places like an XB fuel tank, a better rear seat and other odds and ends that I can't think off from the top of my head.
After finishing my V6 FJ ute and still building a rather radical FJ Van, my plans for the EK is to make the car look like a factory EK standard sedan with 14 inch wheels and a V8, so basically a sleeper. I am still going to put the Commodore V8 in it and that is also in storage with the car.
The car has HR running gear on it presently and I have a spare HR front end that is already modified for the V8 to go into it. I will be selling off the HR rear end (may have already sold that - must follow that up) as I am putting a Commodore V8 LSD in it and will keep the HT reworked wheels on it.
Question
I am about to have the 5 HT wheels sandblasted and will need to paint them. Should I paint them white or should I paint them body color? I will be doing this in the next few weeks as I have 6 brand new tyres on brand new HQ rims (ROH) that I will take off to put on the HT rims and then I can sell the 13 inch mags that I have on the car and the HQ rims. (so if anyone is after any of this let me know).
I am still going to sell off the 186 red motor and the trimatic that is in it as well.
Below is a picture of us trying to get the car started again after moving it, thing really wouldn't start and no I didn't go through that many batteries, they just happened to be on the pallet in front of the car.

If anyone has some good ideas of thoughts on how to make this a real sleeper, I would be happy to hear them. I know FJ's backwards and thanks to a few people and especially Steve, I am learning more about EK's more and more every day.
