Electronic, a recent convert and would never go back.
Only bad thing I've been told about is if your dizzy gives up it's not as easy as replacing points, Trev

Electronic Jay, only problem i had was a new coil cracking (mounted on the engine), but its now mounted on the subframe and no probs. I do carry the old points dizzy and coil with the spares just in case.

Electronic, more recent convert than Trev!! (who helped sort the wires

)
I'll never go back to points, so much smoother and better on fuel! Which is good for a daily.

Electronic dizzy is good but the most common problem that causes them to fail is the ignition module which mounts on the side of the dizzy. Pretty easy to replace, so it is advisable to carry a spare. The other problem they suffer from, but is pretty rare, is the pick up coil inside the dizzy. If you carry a spare (points) dizzy and a coil as well, this should cover all emergencies. Also when converting to electronic, the plug gaps need to be set to about 1mm.

I was told to get the VC VH commodore one with matching coil, and the only other thing was to swap over the plastic drive gear with your older metal one, Trev

Also check you're getting the full 12 volts to the coil.

any engine with a blue motor should have the right dizzy, also fuel injected VK's have the blue motor dizzy, but be sure its the injected motor as the carby motor has a dodgy est dizzy which you don't want to know about

All & Trev,
[I was told to get the VC VH commodore one with matching coil, and the only other thing was to swap over the plastic drive gear with your older metal one, Trev ]
when i recently had my dizzy regraphed by Performance Ignition Services in Melb. the guy advised me to fit the plastic gear. It is supposedly better suited to reducing vibration up the shaft of the dizzy

. I have ran with both and the only problem i can see is if the plastic one strip's , shatters etc. it could be a pain in the arse to get all the pieces.
Also never disconnect the +12v feed to dizzy and leave coil and high tension lead to dizzy connected. If you crank engine this will blow the crap out of your (BIM) electronic module.
There is plenty of info here

Module's aren't cheap $70 - $90 i think.
