gday folks
as promised heres the cable setup for my EK, its an relatively easy swap over & replaces the old mechanical setup
it also tidys up the firewall, as it allows you to delete the entire throttle linkage/brackets etc - but still uses the standard accelerator pedal
....which reminds me i must remove those brackets

*the cable used is off of a mitsi L300 express van 1980 something*
which is quite a long cable, and can be shortened considerably
the cable only cost about $5-$10, so why not grab a spare while your there
i guess a good starting point would be to remove the mechanical linkages etc
then youll need to attach the cable, to the acc pedal lever
you could use a pin, and split/cotter pin to attach the cable - but as you can see below...a small nut & bolt would suffice (maybe zinc/nickel plated type would suit the location)
then youll need to drill a hole in the floor/base of firewall, just above the acc pedal lever - to run the cable through
and a couple more holes, to attatch the cable guide also - see below

as you can see in the next pic, you run the cable inside the cabin (shown here with carpet pulled back)
and out of a hole in the firewall, the same hole as the choke cable runs through
*i would also recommend sealing around cable with silicone etc* for obvious reasons

the next pic shows the carpet back in its place - nice & neat

& finally attach the cable to the carby(application may vary, depending on carby), & youll also need some sort of outer cable holder - the same as a choke cable setup...see below

the final step is the fitment of a return spring, the cable setup will give you a lighter feeling pedal anyway - but can be counteracted somewhat with a stronger tension spring (youll have to play around with springs to find a "feel" that suits you)
also i fixed a plate on the top of the battery tray, with a hole in the top for the other end of the return spring - again see above
to finish up there will be some adjustment of the cable to ensure your getting maximum throttle etc
there was a chap that had a problem getting full throttle with this setup, to fix the problem he extended the accelerator pedal lever
i havnt had a problem with it since it was fitted over 2 years ago
good luck with it, if you choose to go down this path
you can rest assured, it is tried & proven
ps: heres a couple of sites that may help locate those carby/linkage tid bits you may need

thanks to stewart for posting those up
