I'm hoping someone can help decipher details on the 4 EK's and 2 FB's I have. Two are parts cars,2 being restored, other 2 are future projects maybe. My last one I picked up last wednesday was an EK special Hydramatic sedan and the aluminium I.D tag shows the following:-
BODY EK 225-2712-S
TRIM 681-966
PAINT 585-0245
INSERT PO.478.A

Number on R.H fender skirt is EK 19168S.Two engines were also in the deal an EJ (engine no J23064) and an FB engine (no B70864).The original EK engine was not supplied.

The fellow I bought it from said the subframe was not the original one.
Also can the approx build date be asertained from these codes???.

I'll list the Body I.D. tag details of the other 5 FB/EK's I have if someone is willing or able to decipher these as well. All help appreciated. Thanks, Terry.

Paint code is Strata Blue, thats about all I can tell along with the usual, Sydney built car,

Ek also ran the "B" series engine, maybe chack with 4hammers as to the swap over number of yours to see if FB or EK?

I thought the Hydramatic cars had a "H" stamped after the model number or was that limited to Melbourne built cars??

Hope that is some help?
Matt

Thanks for the reply Blacky and Matt. The "B" prefix engine is an FB engine as they ran from B 1001.Ek's ran from B 175814.I was hoping someone could tell an approx production date from the codes if its possible.Don't know about the "H" bit Matt, the numbers are exactly as stamped and the car has all the right bits on it to indicate an original Hydramatic factory fitment.I sent a P.M. to Dr Terry a few days ago before I did this post but no reply as yet.I'd guess he'll answer when he gets time.In the meantime is anyone else able to help???. Regards Terry.
