fuel sender

i was looking on the net and found this fuel sender
out of a 54 chev sedan i looked just like a early holden
one so i got it from the states $39 the bolt pattern fits perfect
it fits in the tank and moves the gauge when hooked up
(even seem to read correct)do all you guys know of this
(and not let me in on it)as in australia ive found it near impossible to find one

i eventually scored an original sender and had it recoed
theres a lot of U.S GM gear that looks like it would suit fb/eks

Have bought a bit of gear for my `64 off the Filling Station -good people to deal with and they post with USPS so the freight is reasonable.

I got one from the states that bolted straight up but the float arm had to be a lot shorter than shown in your picture to fit in the tank.
Can you post a close up of the bolted up end so I can see if it is vertical or horizontal design. The one I got was vertical and that was the problem.

To the best of my knowledge GMH used a bit of mid fifties Chev stuff. Have a look at the speedo in a 53 Chev, near identical to an FC, same with all the handles. So I'm not surprised that it works Mez. Just never thought to go down that route. Good stuff!

hey dave im in melbourne at the moment but i will when i get home the sender from what i know is a top tank mounted sender like a fb/ek

sounds good if its top mounted it should be right as long as its 0-30 ohms.
Would be easy to adjust if its not reading right too being top mounted.
How can I get one? Mine is sorting of working but its very touchy having such a short float arm, it fluctuates a lot.

Does anyone know where I can get a sender to fit my XB thank that will be compatible with the FB dash guage???

Probably easier to get another fuel guage,take it to an instrument maker and have it rewound to suit the sender Malcolm.
