Body Identification Plate

Gents,
Could someone please elaborate on this plate in my van -
I cant find the trim code anywhere and does anyone know what the little plate underneath means ?
Also the three numbers prior to the trim code, what do these signify? They are both different on the sedan and van , yet the paint prefix is the same.

Anyone have a pic of the trim in the sedan ? I think its Golden & Lenora Tan.

Hi Mephious,
The two Id plates both have rarer original exterior colours.
The Van is Katherine Beige
The sedan is Alamo Beige.
Seen the small tag before though I forget what it was. Maybe a Government tag?
Not sure on trim codes.

Hi Mephious.
The first plate is off an EK van painted Katherine Beige & has a Seal & Madison Grey interior.
The second plate is off a Hydramatic EK Special sedan painted Alamo Beige with a Snowcrest white roof. The interior is Golden & Leonora Tan.
I believe the small plate in the first pic, is not off an EK. These small plates are called 'Production Sequence Tags' & began mid-EJ series in 1963, in Sydney anyway. The other reason I believe this is not from that car is because the 'M' is for Melbourne where yours looks like an Adelaide car. Does the chassis number finish in A or M ?

THE whole number thing has me confused i have been told by guys her that the id plate no is not used in reg .. just the no stamped on sub frame .. but there dif no well on mine atleast .. and now i have changed sub frame i have to do a cut and weld on the ids to keep it simple where re registering ,.
i dont know seem arse about to me .. or atleast the shell no should be one used for reg .. i know in later models it was stamped on fire wall ..

I can only speak of experience with N.S.W RTA here but I'd guess other states regognition of ID numbers would be the same.
In N.S.W the RTA only regognises the subframe number as the Vehicle Identification Number or VIN to be short.They don't consider the body number on the ID plate as the VIN number.
That said,
There would be a lot of FB's getting around with replacement EK subframes that are now considered by the RTA to be an EK Holden just because they now have an EK subframe, although the car still is ( to the owner) an FB and still has FB body tags and still looks like an FB, the RTA now says its an EK Holden

Vice-versa with EK's getting around with FB subframes being classed by the RTA as now being an FB.
I think Reddo's ute was an example.
It was an EK but had an FB subframe so according to the RTA it was an FB ( or vice-versa ) and Reddo has an interesting story about the FE van he used to have with a similar dilemma.
RTA says that although it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck its a penguin

Thanks guys for the advice as im at a total loss to this sort of thing.
The chassis number (front subframe) is EK#####M. The only history I have of the car is as follows from the previous owner.
I purchased the car in June 2007 from Geelong.
The 2nd owner (the guy I got it off) had owned the van for 25 years, he purchased it off the original owner who used it for work in the south of Melbourne. I was told all the panels are original and the car has never been in an accident.
It had been sitting out the back of the original owner's backyard for 5 years and the 2nd owner had tried to purchase it for over a year. The original owner finally let it go for $200.00 after the 5th attempt as it had sentimental value.
The van got a re-vamp in the mid to late 1980's with the 161 red, trimatic gearbox and the WB tail-lights.
Any thoughts or possibilities would be interesting and great to hear. Cheers !

my van (for now anyway

) is an FB but one of the previous owners has at some time registered it as a '62 model so now it has stuck as far as the RTA are concerned it's a '62 model FB
another story years ago i had a RUSTY pink EK wagon and a very good FB wagon, so i swaped the engine and rego from the EK into the FB, got pulled over and they checked the numbers

cop comes back "yor chassis No doesn't match yor rego" i gave him the "mate the cars 20 something years old and the subframe where the number is unbolts, it's prolly been in an accident and they've changed it" his reply "oh yeah yor prolly right"
