Hi guys I thought its about time I put up some pics of my FB :roll:

Here's a pic of my Morning Grey sedan with Brown Bears (Matt) wagon.

We finally got it started yesterday after sitting for a couple of months.
It now has a reconditioned head refaced rockers, reco'ed carby, and a nasco alloy tappet cover :lol:

still a long way to go though.

Yeah its still got the old grey with crash box.
my plans are to first get it registered, then lower it and fit twin carbs extractors, and put in a bigger cam to give it a nice note when cruisin :lol:

I still have to finish the front brakes, which will be power assited drums with a VH24 booster,
I need to pull the gearbox out and fix oil leaks from the gearshift selecters and fit a new clutch, and maybe the motor as I think it has a slight weep from the rear main bearing seal.
I have a set of door scatch plates to fit aswell, and I'm gonna powdercoat some EJ rims (welded not rivited) red to match my interior, and red numberplates with white lettering I have ordered in, FB60FB

Looks good Rob,

The front on pic with Matt's wagon looks like it could of been taken in the 1960's with the similar period houses in the background and no modern cars showing.Wonder how the same shot would look in black and white?

Had a yak with Phil Ilfield on the telling bone a couple of nights ago and a small part of the 2 hour conversation was about fixing selector shaft oil leaks in the grey crashbox.

He said he fixes his with an approx 1/8 th inch to a 1/4 inch diameter or so rubber "O'" ring that goes over the shaft.I'm not particularly familiar with the original seal but Phil said, in his words, that the original seal was a "corky cone shaped sort of thing".His modern seal repair works well he said.

I've got to do the same seal repair on one of my grey boxes soon.

Mate she looks to be a good thing. But when she has a cam, twin carbs and extractors, well its going to be a great thing. Oh and brown bears looks tops as always.

For the photos sake, can someone photoshop in mats missing white wall?

Photoshop would improve things, however, tyre shop fixed that problem last weekend....

Rob's FB will go better once its on the road!... number plates first, twin carbs later!

can i see a pic of them tyres you bought, i want to get some rubber for mine, and wanted to see whats available, i know things can look a lot different on the car than on the shelf, and those shops try and sell anything for a buck (here in syd).

Matt and I have been busy on the old girl .
We pulled the gearbox out last friday night, aswell as removed the flywheel.
I changed the selector seal and replaced the old cone shaped cork gasket with an O ring, aswell as a new extension housing seal,and got the flywheel machined.
after all this I gave it a pressure clean and a new lick of GMH grey paint 8)

Tonight we will be putting in a new clutch, which is an early red motor one(8 1/2 inch) which is the same bolt up as a grey motor clutch (8 inch)
and re fitting the gearbox.
Next week front brakes :P
come on Nationals :D

Thanks retro it will be good with a nice note and a bit of old school bling 8)


but as Matt said I can't wait to have it finished and driving more than sly laps around the block :wink:
at least it will be another fb out there cruisin the streets instead of sitting in a paddock, cause thats where this one come from.

Hi Y'all
I've been busy on the front end of my fb,
I took the steering connector rod, the front brakes, backing plates, and steering arms off and cleaned the built up grease and dirt off them and painted them in black enamel.
I also replaced damaged springs and cups inside the connector rod, and fitted 2 new tie rod ends.
Aswell as getting the drums machined and new brake shoes liners fitted, new wheel cylinders, wheel bearings and flexible lines( the old ones were still the originals)

I had a little set back yesterday.
While taking off the bumper brackets I foung a little rust in the subframe, so I cut open a little hole and found the corner was full of red dirt.
So I assumed the other side was the same and cut open another little flap that I can re-weld back on and this side was the same, full of dirt :cry:

So after half an hour with some hose and some compressed air the subframe is dirt free with 3 rust holes to fix and 1 hole I made to repair :roll:
