Gday all!

I have been poping onto this site quite regularly (and finding it extremely helpfull!) thought it was about time I actually became a registered user!

So this is my ute..

I have had it a few months now and am ready to start the resto. The guy I bought it off had already started to pull it apart, its all there(i think!) but in various stages of completion, doors and tailgate primed, front guards have had rust cut out. etc. Unfortunately the sills are completely blown out and of course there is rust in most of the usual other spots!!

The previous owner had HR front,was running a 202 and a trimatic.

Hopefully you guys can give me a few ideas along the way and I hope you dont mind the odd question now and then!

hey mate, looks like a pretty good ute, kinda like mine many months ago, at this stage my honest advice is get it sandblasted (or better yet soda blasted) and go from there, check your rear chassis rails, i didnt notice until i was halfway in that they were rusted to the shitter. Ask away mate, we all do it, its sometimes the only thing that keeps me from going mental.

Hi Brenek a good project you have there that will keep you busy for a while ,are you going back to grey motor or stay with the red?

Probably gonna stay with the red at this stage but a mate of mine is trying to sway me towards RB30?? Dunno yet, I guess it depends a lot on $$$$.
My main concern at this stage is body work ,having never really had much welding experience,I'm unsure if i'm going in a little deep, I want to have a go myself, but dont want end up with a rubbish job!

Doing it yourself will be the best way. I can also guarantee by the time you have done all the repairs you will redo the first few you did alot better. Practice on some old panels, it will save you big dollars, paying for this kind of repair work can get very costly.
