Bosch Blue ..... but which Bosch Blue ?

Hi Guys

Looking to repaint my Bosch starter motor (original EK) whilst it's out of the car .... but which blue is it ? Yep ... that old chestnut ?

I've searched and searched ... I cant seem to find a name that differentiates this blue colour over other blues used.

I've taken a photo below that shows the starter, next to a period correct dizzy that has the same blue, next to a EK Bosch regulator cover.

My 80yo auto electrician swears that the sky blue colour on the regulator cover (and the correct EK Bosch coil) was the original "Bosch Blue".

He then played the 80yo "I cant remember" card on the name of the colour on the Bosch starter motor/dizzy. Not helpful mate !!!

Ive noted that all the "auto paint suppliers" around my area don't colour match any more (like they used to) ... just supply the closest they have on the sample swatches ... which kinda sucks. But they will have a crack if they have an absolute on the manufacturers paint name that they can research a paint code off of, hence the question.

Any help appreciated.

Steve

Can't believe nobody can colour match it - even our local hot rod shop has a spectrometer that they can match from a sample ?

I know right .... the reason I was given was that they get into too many punch-ups over making a bunch of custom paint (assuming for a full vehicle respray) with the customer being unhappy with the end result match !!! They'll only mix to a code.

Eye matching used to be a real art .....

the local paint shop we use for work related items will colour match and stick it in a spray can for like $40 - if you get stuck and you REALLY want it right you are welcome to send it over here and I will take it over to them ?

Just be aware Aussie post may not be keen on conveying aerosols. My local shop colour matches but they charge a fee, which they dlwsys waive for good customers like me. I spend way too much money there.

I get aerosols delivered - not sure if it is Aus Post or Courier, but the boxes are clearly labeled road freight only
