EK Holden ute

I need to sell Grace's FB ute. People may be strapped for cash at Christmas time, but others may have some time off work and can play cars.

The build thread is here:
viewtopic.php?t=22653

It's on full NSW rego at the moment. I took it for a drive a few months back, and lost oil pressure (thankfully at low speed). Suspect the oil pump relief valve is jammed open. Engine still runs and no knocking noise. Plan was to swap another one of my grey short motors into it and then put it back up for sale. I keep getting distracted with other jobs (shed, FED, kids cars, work) and have yet to swap the engines over. To be honest, I really don't want to swap the engine over as I never seem to have enough time. The car starts and drives, but I would hate to take it much further than the end of the street.

I had the ute advertised for about $35k for a fortnight or so before the motor crapped out on oil pressure. Sense checked that number with a few of the forum members who know better than most, and it's probably a fair price for a restored, running and registered ute. Got lazy and only advertised it on the forum - did not put it on to carsales, facebook, gumtree etc. I don't have the patience to deal with the social media idiots over Christmas, so will advertise it here. If it doesn't sell by March I'll list it more widely.

Happy (and hoping) to sell it as-is. If you were looking for a starting point for a red motor or V8 conversion, this would not be a bad thing - engine works well enough to load it onto a trailer and putt around your driveway. In that state I'd take $1500 off the price, which is about what it would cost you to get someone to redo the bearings and check the oil pump. If you are handy with spanners, it would cost a lot less.

If you do repair the grey, to reduce your risk I would offer the following Gentleman's Agreement:
a) if you find the crank is wiped and unmachinable (very unlikely) I will provide a replacement machined crank (I think I even have the oversize bearings for it).
b) if you find the oil pump is unrecoverable (also unlikely) I will provide a rebuilt oil pump.

If you are thinking about building a sporty grey motor, the engine already has Myers headers and a lumpy cam, and there are a few go-fast bits here that I can put with it if needs be (set of refurbished triple Strombergs, refurbished magneto, roller rockers). We would need to agree what those bits were worth. Not interested in selling them separately.

If you want to go the V8 route I have a genuine 327 and TH350 that I could include with it. We would need to agree what those bits were worth. Not interested in selling them separately.

I can't deliver it to you (sold the car trailer and broke the towbar off the wagon  ) but I can help you or your carrier load it onto a car trailer/carrier.

PM me if you are interested.

Cheers,
Harv
