Lightburn Zeta drag car (?)

Spotted on the Augusta Highway between Ports Pirie and Augusta: a Falcon towing a car trailer. On the trailer was a small, boxy vehicle that I mistook for a Trabant at first . . .

Nope. It had a sticker on the back that read "Zeta". And it was not exactly stock in appearance either. I figured if anyone was going to turn a Zeta into a drags car it would have to be done in South Australia. Has anybody in SA seen this engineering marvel?

By way of explanation, I was on my way back from the FE-FC Nationals in WA. I'd just had a superb lunch at the cafe by the jetty in Port Germein.

Ah - Port Germein ...........

we stayed the night there a few years back , on the way to Nuriootpa I think it might have been. Stayed at a nice little B&B and had dinner from the caravan at the jetty - a real good feed of fish and chips. Very pleasant - EXCEPT when we stopped at the pub on the way in, the local inbreds were in the tiny front bar and I ordered a beer and a wine while the bride waited at a table outside, I took her drink out to her and we drank them - she was a bit quiet and when I suggested we have another she said no and wanted to go and check in - she told me later that the yokels in the pub were making obscene gestures and comments to and about her while I was in the bar ordering.

Yer, not a spot I hurry back to. I don’t know about the Zeta, but I’d agree with your logic Rob.

The Zeta was a sort-of pastel olive-greenish colour with a red central speed stripe and the name "Zeta" on the rear 'bumper' in the same style as the Zeta Sports brochure.

The rear wheel arches were quite enlarged to take bigger wheels: steel, in black, with plain chrome hubcaps. The rear wheel arches were not flared, so the rear wheels were about flush with the bodywork.

I think it had a roll cage. Couldn't see anything jutting out the hood to indicate forced aspiration.

That's about all I was able to take in, in a few seconds.
