I have a FB Ute front on my EK. The grill has no inserts covering the vertical stays that hold the grill blades in place.
Looking at making my own. Here is something I folded up and bent today, and what it looks like in place on the grill. Might be a bit busy with the star/cross pattern but let see once I work out how to mount them.
Can anyone share a pic of what they should look like, if they cover the vertical stays, and how they are mounted?
The manual has basic picture of the grill and instructions to remove grill blades first and then undo bolts on each one. Sounds simple enough.

Hey Brett, thanks for the generous offer and the pictures for reference. I didn't realise that they are pot metal which does add a level of cost with re chroming, but a huge saving in time.

I left them off my ute - not that it should have any being a Standard - I reckon the vertical bars add visual height to the car, just having the horizontal bars seems to make it look Lower and wider

The beauty of a complete FB grill. Just in case anyone is in doubt

Following up from the previous post. I received 12 FB grill vertical from Brett (thanks again!). They all have some form of pitting and need rechroming. Gave them all a clean up and a polish thinking I could maybe get away with only rechroming half. But then I had a bit of a rethink.

Above clockwise from bottom left is Original chrome, 3D print wrapped in cheap aluminium tape, 3D Print painted, Original wrapped in copper (2 months of patina), original wrapped in painted polycarbonate, 3D print clear wrapped in cheap foil.

Started looking for thin stainless sheet to replace the cheap foil and came across 0.5 stainless 304 in a mirror finish. 4 sheets 5”x5” for $30.
Thinking back to the original idea at the start of this topic, I have decided to go with original wrapped in stainless steel. IMG_7240

Here is the process for anyone wanting to try. Read the descriptions as the photos were taken of the first ones I did, so some of the process in the images is arse about. Took me 2 and a half hours to make the first 2 and as long again to do the next 6 once I had the steps sorted.

Start by laying tape over a grill tooth, cut around the edges with a sharp knife, peal tape off and stick some card. Use the card to mark out the width of each piece, leaving at least 15 -20mm extra on the length for wrapping.
Roll each strip over a round object to achieve a large radius that matches the original. (Do the 90 degree bend you see here next.) Bend the end 90 degrees (AFTER creating the large radius). Using the original as a form, wrap the stainless around it. The sheet will want to spring back so you need to take it out of the form and squash it a bit along the centre line.

Hammer the edge over carefully. Just has to hold it.. Scribe a line on the end of the sheet to line up with the end of the original. Clamp and bend along this line to 90 degrees

Test fit before folding this bend over. I didn’t do this the first time and it was too tight. Undoing a 180 degree bend is a pain. Hammer edge over. Position original so that the end with the curve in it has all the excess metal and use the original to profile the stainless. Use the template to mark the slot in the top that locks into the horizontal grills. Cut slot with thin cut off wheel 8 done, 4 on the left to go.

Nice work the lighted ones look fancy - is that clear 3D printed plastic with an LED in it ???

Yes - 'clear' filament (looks semi opaque which is not a bad thing) and I just jammed a led from the puddle lights in there for a look. As I will have some excess stainless I might try making one with slots in it. Might look good - or a bit try hard - or both. Would have to work out a way to mount them too.
