I am about to change the sump gasket (with the engine in the car), It looks like the 2 short bits are for the front and rear. Just trying to work out how to keep them bent while installing them. Or better to silicone them onto the sump with a curved "former" maybe while the silicon dries?

Really, it isn’t that hard to extract the engine. You can do it properly and if needs replace the rear main seal as well.
