tyre size in ute tyre compartment

What size tyre are people storing in their ute tyre compartment?

I measured it roughly at 165mm.

Can you get a 175mm in there if you air down?

I won't be able to put it in from the top because I've got the rear brace in, a full length board and then waterproofed it

thanks
Patrick

Yes but what s the good of a flat spare? 165 is about it I’m afraid. The factory 6.40 13” cross ply would’ve just fit.

I'm happy to carry a compressor just wasn't sure if a 175mm would squeeze in if aired down. Is anyone doing it? thanks Patrick

I am carrying a 6.50 13” cross ply and it is a tight fit. It is slightly wider than the 175 85 13 Maxxis on stock rim. I can try one of them in the morning.

thanks Clay, I've only got 185s I can try here until I buy new tyres...might get away with five 175R13C then (just expected a 175 to need 175mm) Patrick

I'm planning on 175s on 4.5s - and would prefer to have a full size spare

yep, towards the end of that thread, I posted a pic of the bridgestones I plan to get.

question here is whether they will fit in the ute spare tyre compartment.

Thanks Clay, I just went and measured - and yep, I reckon I could get a 175 through the door ... the problem for me is the rear brace (which you don't have - and I want to keep) .. the height between the rear brace and the tank is about 163mm (which is about 6.40 - makes sense) (6.50 is about 165mm)

and thanks Blacky 155 should fit easily (like a space saver)

so I 'should' be able to squeeze in a 165R13C, which wouldn't look too out of place if I had to use it temporarily along with some 175R13C tyres

but I suppose I can refine the question to 'has anyone got an aired down 175R13C in their standard FB EK ute spare wheel compartment?'

thanks
Patrick
