What are these tabs for?

What are these tabs for on the floorpan?

I see they are also at the back...in the dead space in the ute. Do people seal them up or leave them as 'drains'

thanks
Patrick

I have left them open during the rebuild, to drain water from the constant sanding and washing. Prior to floor covering dolly them flat and seal with mastic from inside. That’s me anyway.

I speculated they were to fix tar paper insulation in place or for emergency drainage but no idea really. I did consider welding them up but glad I didn’t now.
