Hi All,

I need to replace the two sets of front fender rubber gaskets on the FB sedan.
This one that runs vertically in front of the front door



and this one that runs horizontally along the top of the subframe skirt under the inside of the fender top and down towards the bumper



The first looks pretty simple to make from a sheet of thin rubber, but the second one looks more of a challenge. Any ideas?

The gasket that runs down in front of the door was always part of the door rubber, if you are not replacing the rubbers with originals, it is best just to make your own as you suggested. I think Better Auto Rubber's door rubber has this gasket on them (check before buying), Rare's don't. The other rubber is available at Clark Rubber, they have a wide selection of channels in stock, it's just a matter of cutting "V"s to suit the bends at the bottom. Don't buy something too thick, the guard will sit too high on the inner, take a sample with you to compare.

I have tried my best to keep the originals intact on my ute but then I’m not going for a complete rebuild and they are actually in fair condition. I would be chasing up the better rubber ones if available. If you’re replacing these then no doubt the door seals will need doing as well.

Inner tube (bicycle OK, but car better), and mastic sealant. For the one at the front of the guard, you'll probably have to glue it onto the subframe first.

Have a look at page 22 of my build for the subchassis to guard rubber, I did exactly as Hamlet said I went to clark rubber with a sample and then just cut V's where the holes are and the corners works pretty well.

Thanks everyone - what a beaut' forum. I go to bed with a little issue to sort out, and wake up in the morning with solutions on here

I rang Better Auto's in Queensland who weren't able to help, but said a guy "Larry" was looking into how to make the horizontal piece.

I'll check Clark's out next time I'm up that way, and I like the inner tube idea for the vertical piece - I've got lots of that.
